Home again

Home again after a huge effort to pack, we seem to have far too much stuff these days, and spread ourselves EVERYWHERE!!

Took about 2 hours to pack this morning, and Fi and Kate found a few shoes and jumpers that were left by the jumping pillow. Lucky they looked!

Was an easy drive home, although the traffic was reasonably heavy. At least it was moving.

Van is unpacked and stowed now until the next trip in late February.

Cya then 🙂

Last day at Inverloch

Last day today and thankfully the weather has turned out sensational 🙂

Not so last night, was just after we started cooking that the rain started and we all madly pushed our chairs into any cover we could find. Most of us ended up eating standing up!

Happened again just before bed (granted it was about 12:30 and we probably should have been in bed!) and while it wasn’t heavy, it was very very thick, and everything was soaked in seconds. Didn’t stop Zac who was blissfully unaware in his Swag. Good to know they are waterproof before I sleep in mine in the rain!

Anyway, we woke this morning to sunshine, and the weather has really turned it on for us today. After a fantastic breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages, we all headed off to the local farmers market.

Had a ball in the petting zoo where I became very friendly with a rat 🙂 reminded me of my favorite rat in the pet shop as it ran over my shoulders, arms and hands. Zac and I have already decieded that we are getting a Rat pet when we get home…. Fi agreed but may regret that before long!

While we didn’t win the boat in the Rotary raffle, we did run into the Harmen family (friends from School and Kinder) who had a wine stall at the market. After a few tastings, we just had to take a few bottles which I’m sure will go down very well 🙂

Got lots of photo’s, but they are on my iPhone (and Fi’s) so I will post them shortly in another post.

The afternoon was spent at the beach, where for something different I built a sandcastle… Tara was my helper today and did a great job of both adding little sandcastles and scaring off all the kids who tried to knock it down… she can be really scary when she wants to be!

Matty was so tempted to kick the castle over, so just before he left I picked him up and dropped him on the top of the volcano, which gave all the kids the go ahead to smash everything in sight!

Anyway, we headed back to camp just in time for Beer O’Clock, and started to clean out the last the cheese platters as unfortunately we have to go home tomorrow 🙁 As I write, Anthony is running us through the Trivia for the day.

Hopefully the rain stays away, so we don’t have a wet packup in the morning. Been a great trip, and the good news is, only a month until we head back here for the Morton annual trip in February.

Happy Australia Day :)

Happy Australia Day everyone 🙂

As you know we are down here at Inverloch for another Australia Day caravan park celebration, except this year…. it is just not that hot!!

What is going on, usually for Australia day we are super hot and looking for any bit of shade, but not this year… everyone is in jumpers and trying to keep out of that southerly that is continuing to blow 🙁

Oh well, like all good Australian’s we will just have to drink through it…. err… I mean just put up with it!!

20130126-123739.jpg

At least the wind is keeping my nice new super sized Aussie flag flying!!

Not sure we will make it to the beach today, although may go for a walk later if the tide is out.

Have done well with the setup this year, Mark and I have our van’s facing each, and I have strung my shade cloth between the two awning’s to give a bit of cover. Mark put one of his walls on to try to block the wind, and after freezing in the wind all night, I found a couple of tarps in the van that I didn’t realise I had, so we have been able to block that breeze and give at least a little bit of comfort.

Fi has made it down here in good time (worried she was going to cope too much shit about sleeping in!!) after having to work until midnight last night. We took a tribe of kids out the front to bring all Fi’s stuff in, and the caravan park staff came running out thinking we were letting more people in onto our site!!! Can’t miss out on their extra few dollars a night!!

Zac did end up sleeping outside in his swag last night, and had a good night’s sleep, so don’t think he is going to have any issue when we finally get the new car and head out bush. One month to go, and who knows, I might even blog those camping and 4wd adventures here too 😉

Anyway, have a great Australia day, and I’ll try to remember to blog again tomorrow 🙂

PS – was a caravan trip I didn’t blog on… the annual boys trip to the Murray. Not much to report (or that I would report 😉 ), but thought I would post this photo of our great campsite.

Day 1 Night 1

So , got down here fine and setup a pretty good camp (as per last post) while the Kids all ran riot and explored the park.

Was a total fire ban today which means we weren’t able to have gas bbq’s. Lucky I had that electric BBQ ( wink wink nudge nudge).

Weather wasn’t too bad today, although there is a constant southerly blowing that is just annoying!! We are currently all sitting around with blankets on just to try to stay warm. Just had to give Kate your sexy rug Fi… Sorry about that, but figured you won’t need it tonight!

Have set the kids up with a movie night and they all seem pretty happy, but guessing it will be straight to sleep afterwards, as they are all looking a bit tired… Hope that means a sleep in, but I am not holding my breath!

A miserable last day

Well our last day has been reasonably miserable… well weather wise anyway.

We had to put an extension on the annex because of all the rain…

20121105-194225.jpg

…and most of the day has been spent sitting around doing not much…. actually not that much different to the rest of the weekend!!!

At least we managed to get out and throw the frisbee before dinner
