A new beginning

Was a day for new beginnings yesterday as the country welcomes in a new Government and we hit the road starting our travelling adventure.

Most amazing thing about yesterday was that we were packed and on the road by 9am!! Incredible I know! We said our final farewell for this trip to Vicki. Thanks Vicki, we have really enjoyed having you with us for the last week.

So we pointed north. First challenge… bloody Queensland drivers!!! They love to sit in the right hand lane and can’t keep a constant speed. Pretty much most of the way to Gympie we got stuck behind people as they sped up and slowed down, often sitting alongside the person in the left lane. When it is finally clear in the left, they switch lanes and speed up to the next car before jumping back in front of you in the exact same position they were in! Really strange behaviour??

Also, a bit of advice for Queensland drivers… when you cut me off, I have 2.5 tonne of caravan behind me and don’t stop real quick, so you will forgive me for blasting my horn at you… Wow I can feel my blood starting to boil again just writing about it!!

Worst experience we had was a couple of young girls who were purposely trying to mess with me, speeding up and slowing down, sitting the right hand lane to not let me pass. I finally pulled up behind them as they refused to move over flashing my high beams and sitting on the horn for a minute… when I saw they wouldn’t move over, I passed them on the left, and they were laughing at me??? Well, what they didn’t realise is that there was another guy with a van behind me who also went to pass them on the left, and when they tried to speed up to block him off, he simply started moving over. 2.5 tonne of caravan or back off ladies!!! They chose to back off this time, swerving onto the shoulder to avoid the van before backing right off, slowing down and sitting in the left lane for the rest of the trip. Bet they weren’t laughing now!

Grrr… was so dangerous and not a good start to a driving day!

Anyway, once we got past these stupid girls, the traffic thinned out enough and the rest of the day was easy. Hopefully it stays that was for the rest of the trip.

So, this morning finds us about 6 hours up the coast at Hervey Bay… or at least on the outskirts ย of town in Veron Point. We chose this Big 4 as it was meant to be closer to the beach than the one in Hervey Bay itself, but I think we chose the grey nomad option! We are by far the youngest in the park, and certainly the only ones with kids. We contemplated staying another night and maybe taking a trip to Fraser Island, or Whale watching, but when we saw the prices I think we will be better off heading further north to the Great Barrier Reef.

Mark and I set up camp while the kids went off to explore, returning as soon as they realised there was a pool so they could change into their bathers. The water was freezing cold, but that didn’t stop them, although I think they were keen for that hot shower afterwards!

With a few bugs around, I setup my rooftop awning and mosquito net so we can have somewhere to sit for the night (picture below). It is fantastic, and only took about 10 mins to set it up. With both an election last night, and Collingwood in the finals, we thought we had better set a TV up, so Mark and I ran a long cable from his caravan (I don’t have an antenna) and setup my TV on the table just outside the mosquito net. Only issue was, Mark wanted to watch the footy, and I wanted to watch the election… I know boring aren’t I. Anyway, we spent the night flicking between the two… unfortunately the Mighty Pies weren’t so mighty last night, but at least we have an “Under New Management” sign in Australia’s shop window. Yes I was happy with the result if you didn’t realise!

So this morning, I think we will pack again and hit the road. Fiona wants to take a drive through Hervey Bay so we can at least say we have seen it, then I think we will point North again and head for the tropics. What will we see today?

The week in review

How time flies!! We have been away for a week now and if this week is anything to go by, we are in for a great holiday. I know that we have already blogged every day but thought I would re cap some of my highlights.

I really enjoyed the first caravan park we stayed in tooraweenah – I have never been greeted with scones and chocolates for the kids on rival to any park and the hosts were very friendly. After many hours in the car this was a welcomed surprise.

Next stop Glen Innes – we loved our stay there. Was great to see Nan and the relies. Everyone is still the same and as I remember them. I can highly recommend Hotel Newsome. Thanks again Mary and Ray.

Despite the initial concerns the kids had with the farm they have continued to talk fondly of Mike the baby cow and the girls are even saying they do want their ears pierced!! Seems we won’t need to save for therapy after all:)

Then we made the trek to Hastings Point… The park is just as great as I remember. Kids pool is even better with a rip off of Buckaneer Bay from Wet and Wild right there in the park. Trips to the theme parks have been well documented but from my point it was lovely to share it with Aunties, cousins and Granny and to see the kids having such a great time. I’m glad Craig had someone to share the thrills and spills with as I am a tad scared of the rides.

Thank you Amy, Jess and Kelly for being such great sports and spoiling all the kids!! We have had a great time with you. Many laughs had by all.

Who knew we could bed 7 people in Toorak van,not sure how much sleep Kelly got as lil Jess snuggled up and rested her head on Kelly’s shoulder but the kids enjoyed the sleep over with her!
Kids were a tad taken aback when we had to say good bye to Granny this morning, I think they thought she would be on holidays with us for the rest of the trip. Good on you Ma for braving some of the rides and sleeping on the bottom bunk… I know it’s not the Ritz Carlton but we have loved having you with us. I think you could easily become a grey nomad in your retirement!! Happy birthday for Monday and safe travel home.xx

Short cuts:
I tried a strawberry and white chocolate pizza …. Yummy
Zac and Mat found a new love of water bombs!
Tara is braver than I thought… She has daredevil in her blood!
1 bottle of baileys is not enough!
Kids really don’t need breakfast… Seems lollies are enough to keep them going
Theme parks are great for all ages.

Wonder what the next few weeks will bring!
Xx

Say good bye to the Tweed Coast

Well today we leave the Tweed coast and Hastings point to continue our Adventure North. We have had a wonderful time here, made so much better by the family that visited us, but… now the Adventure begins. Who knows what the next leg will bring because we don’t have much of a plan beyond point North. We will aim for Rockhampton today and just see what happens.

Yesterday was a lazy day. Time to do a few chores and recharge the batteries after the Theme Parks. After a big breakfast cook up, the girls put a load of washing on the line while Mark and I headed to Tweed City for two new tyres and a replacement relay. The guys at SuperCheap were great and swapped the relay even though I didn’t have my receipt. Was a little easier fitting it this time too with an extra pair of hands (thanks Mark). Fingers crossed this one does the job and no more worrying about the freezer full of meat in the back of the car!

The rest of the day was pretty lazy. We had some lunch, followed by an ice-cream that Kelly bought for everyone. Then it was time to say our farewells to Kelly who was heading to Surfers Paradise to party with friends. We all gave her a big kiss and a hug. Been great having you with us Kelly (my fellow ride thrill seeker) and all the kids have loved it too. Especially Clare who I think has adopted you! She woke after her afternoon nap asking “Where’s Kelly?”

As Fi and Vicki drove Kelly up the coast, Mark and I took the kids for a swim. I had to see this water park for myself. It was pretty awesome having had a massive upgrade since we were here last. Water shooting out everywhere, and a massive bucket that filled every 6 minutes then dumped water everywhere. Felt like we were back at Wet n Wild! Only problem was the temperature of the water… freezing! Luckily the pool with the water slides was heated, so after being dumped on by the bucket we were able to warm back up again.

Only stayed there for about an hour. Zac took a tumble grazing his knees and hands (see that is why we say don’t run!), and Emma’s goggles were hurting her eyes, which was too much for the tired girl. Not only that I noticed that it was beer o’clock already, so we headed back to the caravan where Mark produced a cheese platter, and I think for the first time this trip, I actually did nothing but sit!

My lovely sister-in-law Kate put all the girls through the shower, which was then converted to a bath. Unfortunately, the drain couldn’t cope with the volume of water, and backwashed up the drain in the floor flooding the bathroom ๐Ÿ™

Fi and Vicki got back after fighting the Friday peak hour on the Motorway just in time for a BBQ dinner and that was pretty much the end of our lazy day. The kids were all exhausted having not stopped for the last week, so I think they will enjoy a day of just sitting in the car today.

As we push off north, we must also farwell our final visitor as Granny Vicki is heading south again to Coffs to start her new adventure as a retiree. Thanks so much for sharing our holiday with us Vicki, we all loved having you along.

Anyhow, time for breakfast then I had better start packing this van… how the hell did we manage to spread ourselves so far again!!!

PS – just found some photos on Fi’s phone of the water park here at the caravan park, so I will add them below.

Forgot to post pics from Dad’s house

You will notice fun in Grandpa and Nonna’s pool, Clare covered in stickers and Grandpa geared up for Pies v Kangaroos. Turns out we lost (no hunger) and that was the afternoon Nonna almost cut her thumb off slicing potatoes. A trip to hospital later, stitches and almost askin graft, all is on the mend.

Last 2 days

Wet n wild was excellent, the kids had a ball though poor Clare was wrecked by the end and fell asleep on me. The biggest kid really was Craig!!!!!!

Today has been relaxed mostly. For Craig and myself it was a trip this morning to Tweed Heads to get two new van tyres for me, a new dual battery kit for Craig (his 4th!) and some bits and pieces to fix some things.

When we got back the kids were terrorising the water park in the park. Matt has learnt that running in the wet is not that good with a graze on his face.

Clare had an afternoon sleep as keeping up with the big kids takes it toll, poor Clare Bear.

Given Craig had so much fun at the water park, we had to take him to the caravan park one as it has water slides and big water pay area. The kids again had a ball showing us slide techniques, swimming abilities and have ing fun. Matt was keen to stand on my shoulders while i was under water and jump off and try somersaults – maybe he will join the circus when he is older!

Well tonight is our last night and given it is Friday, the park has started to fill this afternoon. While people are setting up, we are starting to pack up. Our general aim is somewhere between Bundaberg and Rockhampton tomorrow, but we will see where the road leads. It is great being carefree.

Kate showered all the girls before and the shower can be a bath. Would you believe it she flooded the ensuite! Just like the laundry at Rowville and Vermont South! Turns out the drain cannot handle that much water and it all came back up through the drain in the floor. At least the floor is clean, it is not our house and we are leaving tomorrow!!!

It has been a great little park (5stars) and the kids have had a ball. I have put some photos of camp up. Weather has ben awesome, though the bush turkeys keep trying to rip open the garbage bags and steal food.

Wet n Wild

I think I have now done all the Theme parks here at one time or another, and I must say “Wet n Wild is the BEST PARK EVER!!!!!”

We had an absolute ball, well I know I did anyway.

Was a slow start yesterday with the kids enjoying their sugar breakfast showbags from Seaworld (thanks Aunty Jess and Aunty Amy) while the rest of us had a great cook up of Bacon and Eggs on the BBQ. While cooking, it was asked what theme park we should do, Wet n Wild or MovieWorld, but I left no options, jumped in the air chanting “Wet n Wild…Wet n Wild”. Everyone else just gave up and decided we were going to wet n wild. Movie World would just have to wait.

The day was glorious, about 24 degrees and barely a cloud in the sky. While waiting for the big girls to get rolls ready for lunch, the little girls discovered the skill tester in the games room, and it wasn’t long before Tara and Emma came back with new fluffy toys. Of course that meant Jess and Clare wanted one too, so they dragged Uncle Mark off to the games room with a handful of coins.

Uncle Mark did manage to get one for Clare, but getting one for poor Jess proved a little bit tricky. Even I had to go down with a handful of coins to give it a try, but I had no luck either. Much poorer for the experience, and a disappointed Jess, we gave up and I promised we would get Jess a toy at Wet n Wild.

Was about 11:30 by the time we got to the theme park and scanned all our tickets through. As everyone changed into their bathers we decided we needed a base from which to venture out from, so Mark and I headed to the entrance and we hired a Cabana hut around the wave pool. Wasn’t cheap at $150 for the day, but money well spent as we had a private spot to leave our things along with a locker to store the valuables.

So bather’ed and screened up, we headed for the rides. Wet n Wild is all waterslides and there were certainly a good number of thrill seeker rides. Thank God I had my two best ride buddies Kelly and Jess (big one, not the little one) as most of the rides needed a partner with a minimum of 2 riders per tube.

We started off with a nice easy slide in a large round tube that fitted 4, so we climbed to the top of the tower (man this place has a lot of stairs) with kids in tow and slid on down. The kids loved it and had to head back up another couple of times. Even managed to get both Fi and Vicki down this one before we dragged everyone off to visit something a little more adventurous.

The brave ones, myself, Zac, Mark, Mattie, Amy, Jess and Kelly all headed into the Extreme H2O Section of the park where we made a bee line to the BlackHole. A waterslide in inky black darkness. Awesome! The girls went first, followed by Mark and Mattie before it was Zac and my turn. We climbed into the tube and waited for our turn. A traffic light would turn green and you knew it was safe to push off… problem is Zac also started to turn a little green as his mind took over… “I can’t do this” he said, “Too late” I replied “you are committed”. As the light turned green, Zac started to climb out of the tube, so I wrapped my leg around him to hold him in place, pried his fingers off the handles and shoved us into the inky black darkness… YeeeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Zac was not impressed, but about halfway down he realised it wasn’t that bad, and even started to cheer himself. At the bottom he leapt out of the tube… “That was AWESOME!” he yelled, and he dragged Mattie off for another go. Another round of the blackhole, and bravery building, thought we would seek another thrill. Zac and Mattie were a little cold, so they headed back to the cabana while the Adults (or slightly larger kids) headed to the next ride.

The Tornado! A huge cone that the ride drops you into, and you swish side to side before heading down the tube. Amy, Jess and Kelly went in one tube, and Mark and I the other. Now the secret to these rides is weight. The heavier you are the faster you go, and Mark and I (both lard-asses) got some awesome height and air! Was great fun, and we had to do it again straight away… in fact the girls were already half way back up the tower before we had even come down!

The Tornado then led to the Kamikazie. Think of a huge skate ramp and you are dropped down one side, a near vertical drop, and shoot up the other side skating side to side a few times before coming to a stop. As we had an odd number, Amy had to wait at the bottom while Kelly, Jess, Mark and I headed up the tower with our tubes on our heads. Kelly and I went first, skating up the otherside and hitting the barrier…awesome fun and I jumped out at the bottom to an eagerly waiting Amy and headed headed straight back up. Man I love having people on this trip to do rides with me ๐Ÿ™‚ (I am a big kid after all!)

Thrills done, we headed back to the cabana for some lunch, but not finding the rest of the crew, we headed off again and found them in the awesome Buccaneer Bay water park. Hard not to get wet here with water shooting out of everything and a big bucket on top that fills with water before tipping over and covering the whole playground!

The kids had been busy exploring the other side of the park. All the rides have height restrictions, and poor Jess and Clare were not tall enough for most of the rides. Jess was most upset as she stoop up against the height indicator, sighed and said “Its not fair I was born so small” ๐Ÿ™ heart breaking for the poor girl.

Tara and Emma on the other hand were over the 110cm restriction on all but 2 or 3 rides, so they had the pick of the park. After lunch Aunty Amy and Aunty Jess took the two very brave girls Tara and Emma down the blackhole. They were very brave and loved it. “I want to take you down Dad” Tara said excitedly. So we headed back into the Extreme H2O section. On the way we were sidetracked by a quick visit to the Tornado so we could take Zac and Mattie down. Tried to get Fi down without any luck, but at least Mark was able to drag Kate up for a go. Kelly and I took Tara up the top but unfortunately she was a fingers width short of the height restriction and had to climb back down the stairs in tears as Kelly and I took our final plunge into the cone.

At the bottom with a teary Tara, I knew there was only one thing to do… the Blackhole! There is just no stopping the girl. She is one brave little chick. First Tara wanted to go down with Zac, so Kelly and I followed in the second tube, but the next round saw Kelly and Zac first before Tara and I followed. “Much faster with you Dad” Tara said… hehe nice way of saying I’m fat!!! LOL.

With not long to go before the park closed, we thought we had better head to the other side of the park to ride the Constrictor. We swung past the cabana, and added Aunty Jess and Emma to our crew (poor Mark was pinned to a chair with a sleeping Clare). We raced off knowing our time was almost done.

The Constrictor was a little disappointing after the extreme rides, and the tubes weighed a tonne. We had to roll these ones up the hill and man they were heavy. Next door though were 4 good old fashioned waterslides, two open and two enclosed tubes. I had to go first to catch the girls at the bottom (the little ones, not the big ones). These slides were a hoot, and we made several round trips to try each of the options. Now this is where being a boy has its advantages because ladies swimwear is not really designed for the big splash at the bottom. Jess managed a “wedgy” each time, where as poor Kelly… well… lets just say she had to stay under the water for a little while at the bottom to avoid a “wardrobe malfunction”. They were both good sports about it though having a good ‘ol laugh and it certainly didn’t stop us from doing a few rounds.

The last ride we managed was the Super 8. A high speed 8 lane Race. We had to do it twice and the first time I wasn’t paying attention as Kelly launched herself down the slide she was a good few metres before I even realised what was going on. The second race, I was so determined not to be left behind that as the lady said “On the green light you can Go” that all I hear was “Go!”

I launched myself down the slide closely followed by Jess. At the bottom we were greeted by cries of “Cheat! Cheat!” but that was mostly from Zac.

Anyway, our day had come to an end and we returned to the most expensive Cabana hut I never sat at (LOL – the others got good use of it) to get changed and head home.

Now as I said at the start, I had promised to get little Jess a fluffy toy from Wet n Wild, but to add insult to injury, not only could Jess not go on most of the rides, but the park had no fluffy toys!! What the? What sort of theme park has no fluffy toys???

Instead Jess selected a necklace from the surf shop. The lovely darling that she is, she selected a Ying and Yang necklace that was actually two, so her best friend and sister Tara could have one. It was just beautiful to watch and I hope they have that relationship forever.

Anyway, as I said “BEST THEME PARK EVER” had come to an end. On the way home we stopped and grabbed some pizza’s which we ate back at the caravan park, before Mark drove Aunty Jess and Aunty Amy to the airport. Thank you both for joining us on our holiday and making the theme parks special. Really enjoyed having you with us.

Of course this meant that Kelly couldn’t sleep in the apartment last night, so we squished one more body into the van, Kelly joining Tara and Jess for a “slumber party”. Thankfully there was more slumber than party!

So today is really catch-up day. Got a few chores to do before we head further up the coast (washing, shopping, fixing etc) but most of all, today is a lazy day. My favourite kind.

PS – can you believe we had so much fun at the park yesterday that we didn’t even take one photo!!

Seaworld

Firstly Happy Birthday Kate!!! ( just to start the blog for yesterday)

We went to Seaworld yesterday, and Craig has done an excellent job in his blog. Some bits he may have “forgotten” or maybe just a different perspective!

Coming home to get fish and chips, we have have made more than one wrong turn. It started with being in the wrong lane just after leaving Seaworld and taking the scenic tour of downtown Surfers Paradise, which to be honest makes the Monash Freeway or Exhibition street of the evening look like the best flowing roads!!!

We then followed this for 20 minutes. I think we moved 3 km in 20 minutes. My analogy was driving to Portsea on the Nepean Highway all the way from the city when a perfectly good freeway exists. The freeway may be busy but they keep flowing. I think the red light fairies were against us.

Then we arrive at Tweed Heads area and after another 20 minutes of seeing some remarkably similar scenery (ie read we had passed the same stuff) I was just mentioning to Kate that it felt like we were going in circles, when Craig advises on the CB that we had to pull over and work out where we were as “gee, all these roads have changed”. Now maybe Teed Coast council redesigned all the roads or Kelly’s local knowledge was rusty along with someones memory………….

We did eventually find Fiona, Amy, Jess and Vicky at the fish and chip shop. We may have been temporarily displaced (lost NFI!) but we made it. Both our girls had crashed by this point and were reluctant to wake up.

Once frozen Fanta’s hit, the kids table was as boisterous as ever. The food was nice but New South Welshmen and Queenslanders just cannot make potato cakes (potato scallops at they call them). Fish was fresh and well cooked and the calamari was awesome. Portion sizes were extremely generous and my favourite – chips – were excellent.

We all then saddled up and made it back to camp without getting temporarily displaced once!!!! On return there was a letter for Kate. Thank you Dad and Leonie for organising a card and present for Kate’s birthday and finding us in the caravan park.

Oh and those naughty Aunties bought the kids showbags which have been claimed by the kids this morning. Sugar breakfast has kicked in by the sounds of kids rapidly approach. And then Clare turns up holding a dead bird in her hand. It was in good nick for a dead bird but Kate is not happy.

Forgot to mention – the young girls ( Auntie Amy, Jess and Kelly) must have been exhausted as they literally ran to bed last night and were not seen again!!!no stamina these young kids these days! Thanks to Clare’s new Auntie Kelly as Clare latched on yesterday and wanted piggy back rides, carries and attention.

Sea World

20130905-070316.jpg

What a day we had at Seaworld! Everyone must have had a great time because everyone was in bed by 10pm!

We arrived at Sea World about 11am and everyone had to line up for their mug shot for their 3 park super pass. Took a little while to get through with so many of us, but we finally got there and into the park. First stop was the new penguin’s. Those Emperor penguins are an impressive beast, and certainly a lot taller than I thought they would be. Put our little fairy penguins in Melbourne to shame!

As we left the penguins, we saw the mono-rail station and decided to jump on the train for a tour of the park. Only took 20 mins to do a lap, and it was a great way to see everything… a little slow and boring for Zac, although we fixed that later… The park had changed a bit since I had been there last with a few new rides and attractions. Unfortunately some the rides including the log ride were closed for maintenance ๐Ÿ™ still there was plenty to see.

After our trip around the park, we stopped briefly for some lunch, then headed into the dinosaur exhibition. Big scary, noisy moving dinosaurs…although disappointing as they it turned out they weren’t real after all… so we headed across to Dinosaur island…again big and noisy, but not real. What we did see though, were our fist dolphins swimming in the water around the island.

Well dinosaurs done, we decided it was time to get a thrill and headed over to the roller coasters. There were two that were operating, Sea Rescue where you sit on Jet Ski’s and fly super fast along a track, and the Sea Viper that looped above our heads. We thought we would start with the smaller of the two, so headed over to Sea Rescue.

Zac, Mattie, Mark, Kate, Kelly, Aunty Jess and Aunty Amy all bravely lined up for a go on the Sea Rescue. My back was still killing, but there was no way I was going to miss out! This however is where I broke my little ride champion. Zac and I were first in line, and that meant that we were on the front cart of the roller coaster… nothing but track in front!

Zac looked a little nervous as we got on, and held on for dear life as suddenly without warning…WHOOSH! We took off at a great rate, man is this thing fast! Sitting on the front, you could see the track coming and knew what was about to happen, which I think was worse, but as I do on a ride, I laughed at the top of my lungs. Zac on the other hand…. was silent. Not a good sign.

The ride was over so quick, but even as we got off and headed back to the Mum’s, Zac wouldn’t talk and was white as a ghost! We all looked hungrily towards the Sea Viper looping above us, but not for Zac. He had had enough of rides for the day. I think he was kicking himself later, as he really wanted to go on the rides, next time maybe we won’t sit in the front.

So, the rest of us (minus Zac and Kate) headed over to the Sea Viper. This one is more of a traditional roller coaster, and once again I was worried about my back, but no need, this was a smooth ride, and the loop and corkscrew where you are upside down were over so fast. Mattie loved it so much, he dragged Mark back for a second go!

Thrill rides done, we headed back to the scariest rides in the park, where Jess, Tara, Emma and Clare showed us boys up with their bravery, running from ride to ride.

The day was slipping away, so we headed to the Ray feeding tank, where we all got to pat sting rays as they swam past. Soft and slippery is the only way to describe them. We didn’t feed them as it was $10 for a bucket of fish (4 or 5 pieces) and there were limited buckets.

After the ray’s we dropped by to see the big cuddly teddy bears, also known as Polar Bears! I love the poler bears, they look like a big friendly dog really, although not so sure I would want to get close enough to pat one!

Shark bay was magnificent as always, but no diving for me this year ๐Ÿ™ while I can brave some rides, I don’t think strapping 40kg of equipment to my back is a good move at the moment. Seeing all the fish though did make me want to get in the water, and I can’t wait until we get up north and out onto the reef.

After the sharks, it was time for the Dolphin show. Doesn’t matter how many times I see this show, it still amazes me as they leap out of the water. No “Dad can I have a pony?” here, it was all “Dad can I have a dolphin?”

Last stop for the day was Cast-a-way bay. This had some water play, so Fi and Kate made the trek back the start of the park where all our bathers were in the locker, while the rest of us were dragged through tunnels and rope bridges by the kids. Now that did wonders for my back, I was a little slower than usual, but it was still good fun.

Our last attraction for the day while Mark took the kids out on a pirate ship with water cannons that shoot the kids on the shore, was a suspended course. Wearing a harness, you work your way across different challenges suspended 3 stories high above the ground. This is where Zac came into his own attempting any of the challenges with grace and style. He even braved a few of the harder challenges. Well done Zac, you did an amazing job. As for me, I think the course helped to stretch my back! Didn’t feel too bad after I came down, although maybe it was adrenaline cause it all started to hurt again later.

Well that was it, the park was closing and we headed to the gates. What an awesome day.

It was Aunty Kate’s Birthday yesterday (Happy Birthday Kate), so we stopped into our favourite Fish n Chips shop in Tweed for a feed. Ok, Kelly and I in the lead got a little disoriented and turned left when we should have gone right, but Fi driving Vicki’s car stumbled across the place by accident as they had become separated coming though Surfers Paradise in Peak Hour. Using the magic of the iPhone, I tracked her location and got directions straight to her.

The Fish n Chips were still good, but not as good as the fish Ray had cooked us on Sunday!!!

Back at the park as I said before, it was an early night. Aunty Jess and Aunty Amy retired to their cabin exhausted after running around with the kids all day and Kelly wasn’t far behind. By 10pm, I was cold, my back was sore and I could barely keep my eyes open!

I didn’t get many photo of the day, but I know Fi did, so I will steal her iPhone and upload some photos later.

Anyway, it is either Wet and Wild or Movie World today, will see what everyone is up for after breakfast.
