Seaworld

Firstly Happy Birthday Kate!!! ( just to start the blog for yesterday)

We went to Seaworld yesterday, and Craig has done an excellent job in his blog. Some bits he may have “forgotten” or maybe just a different perspective!

Coming home to get fish and chips, we have have made more than one wrong turn. It started with being in the wrong lane just after leaving Seaworld and taking the scenic tour of downtown Surfers Paradise, which to be honest makes the Monash Freeway or Exhibition street of the evening look like the best flowing roads!!!

We then followed this for 20 minutes. I think we moved 3 km in 20 minutes. My analogy was driving to Portsea on the Nepean Highway all the way from the city when a perfectly good freeway exists. The freeway may be busy but they keep flowing. I think the red light fairies were against us.

Then we arrive at Tweed Heads area and after another 20 minutes of seeing some remarkably similar scenery (ie read we had passed the same stuff) I was just mentioning to Kate that it felt like we were going in circles, when Craig advises on the CB that we had to pull over and work out where we were as “gee, all these roads have changed”. Now maybe Teed Coast council redesigned all the roads or Kelly’s local knowledge was rusty along with someones memory………….

We did eventually find Fiona, Amy, Jess and Vicky at the fish and chip shop. We may have been temporarily displaced (lost NFI!) but we made it. Both our girls had crashed by this point and were reluctant to wake up.

Once frozen Fanta’s hit, the kids table was as boisterous as ever. The food was nice but New South Welshmen and Queenslanders just cannot make potato cakes (potato scallops at they call them). Fish was fresh and well cooked and the calamari was awesome. Portion sizes were extremely generous and my favourite – chips – were excellent.

We all then saddled up and made it back to camp without getting temporarily displaced once!!!! On return there was a letter for Kate. Thank you Dad and Leonie for organising a card and present for Kate’s birthday and finding us in the caravan park.

Oh and those naughty Aunties bought the kids showbags which have been claimed by the kids this morning. Sugar breakfast has kicked in by the sounds of kids rapidly approach. And then Clare turns up holding a dead bird in her hand. It was in good nick for a dead bird but Kate is not happy.

Forgot to mention – the young girls ( Auntie Amy, Jess and Kelly) must have been exhausted as they literally ran to bed last night and were not seen again!!!no stamina these young kids these days! Thanks to Clare’s new Auntie Kelly as Clare latched on yesterday and wanted piggy back rides, carries and attention.
