Yesterday was our departure from the oldies park. On the way our of Hervey Bay we found Dan’s for a stock up!! Jim Beam Zero is harder to find in remote bottleo’s – you get funny looks!
Geez QLD love roadworks. The park owner warned us that the usual 4 hours to Rocky would take 6 or so and he wasn’t wrong. The RACQ have billboards saying demand better roads, and boy they are not wrong. Talking to my neighbours here when we arrived (queenslanders from Mackay who are almost home after a round trip the same as ours) and the govt says remote roads are too hard but reckon the NT roads are mostly excellent.
An uneventful day until almost in Yeppon when Kate and myself heard a strange noise during an overtake. The car and van felt ok and the noise did not repeat so on we went.
Then when i was putting the sullage hose on in the park i noticed this…
It would appear the noise was the tread separating from one of the tyres. The odd thing is i did not know the original tyres were retreads! Lucky i have 2 brand newies on the back from Tweed Heads. Today i think after the kids play and maybe a tour or cruise, i will swap the last 2 old ones for new tyres and get another 2 new ones.
This is what a tyre should look like…
The funny thing is i thought about this in Hastings Point but Craig and myself decided i have already lost one so losing more wont happen…..hmmmm hope this is the last one.
Well time from Breakfast and Fi is looking at glass bottom boat tours
