Little Duna Lane

Posted by on August 31, 2014

Well yesterday I finished the driveway. Woke early again to another spectacular pre-dawn view, although my phone had died over night so I wasn’t able to take a picture this time.

Was a cold start, so I fired up the generator and tested the heater in the van. Worked a treat, but I soon discovered that I was out of Gas šŸ™ With the generator running I was able to pull out the electric kettle and boil some water for a cuppa. Also at the same time I put some toast on for breakfast, and the generator didn’t even miss a beat. With so many appliances pulling such a big load I was worried that it would struggle, but it just hummed away in the background!!

Anyway, after breakfast I jumped in the bobcat and spent a good few hours going up and down the new driveway with load after load of gravel to finish off the path from the shed to the camp. Was slow going and took hours before the pile was small enough and I spread the remaining gravel alongside the driveway to flatten it our after the bobcat had chewed up the area.

Once done, I set about cleaning up, and quickly took the remaining logs from the cattle ramp up the back of the block to build a little bridge across the creek. Was a rushed job given I had to be on the road by 2pm (had to get back in time for Kristy’s 40th), and I only just finished it in time. In the rush I forgot to take a photo, so will have to remember that for next trip.

Jobs done, I raced back to camp and did very quick pack up, loaded the Bobcat onto the trailer and took a last drive along the new and improved Little Duna Lane.

I also took a short video to show the road from Little Duna to the Freeway.
