Was a slow start to yesterday, most of us slept in except me who wakes at 6:30am every morning to write the blog before we get moving for the day. Didn’t have to stress yesterday because there was not a lot of moving!!
In preparation for our departure today, Mark changed his tyres, pulling the ruined one off so we could take it into town and swap it. Inspired by this, I decided to finally climb under the car and fix that rattling bash plate. Was good hard hot work in the sun, but finally when I start the car people won’t look at me like I’m driving a ticking time bomb!!
To give it a good test, Mark and I took it for a run into town, swapped the tyre and got some supplies for lunch. Then the adults all voted for not doing much else for the rest of the day. We screened and bathered up and headed for the pool.
A quick stop at reception and they agreed to turn the 5m high waterside on. This thing was awesome as it twisted and turned from on high. All the kids had a ball, Clare getting braver and going solo in the end and even Fi gave it a go. Everyone’s reaction was the same as they splashed into the water at the end… “I’m doing it again!”
All tuckered out from climbing the stairs and sliding down, we retired to the pool where we met a number of nice people, most who had only just arrived today and were drawn to the pool by the waterside. There were lots of discussions… where are you from… where have you been… what’s good ahead?
The one constant that almost everyone has said to us has been “…you have to go to the Big 4 in Airlie beach!”
So that is where we are headed today. We have loved our time here in Yappoon, I think Mark has already requested a transfer up here… they are house hunting after all! Unfortunately can’t see Coles IT moving up here anytime soon, so I guess for the moment I will have to return to Melbourne….eventually!
