Yesterday saw our departure from NSW for the last time so start the meandering journey north. While had set an aspirational goal of Rockhampton, we were just going to take it as it comes.
What i can say is broadly QLD drivers are sh1t and quite rude – deliberately failing to keep left, varying speeds and pulling out in front of cars with caravans (i was starting to think the Morton’s car had some sort of dumb ass magnet!
Once we cleared the Sunshine Coast this cleared up so maybe a localised issue?
The girls were stuffed after days of fun!
We stopped
We also passed a well known landmark
We stopped in Gympie for lunch (no Coolola Way)! Found a great park to have our rolls with an awesome playground. It also has a ride best described as a pedal powered monorail for kids. Clare started with a cousin pedaling but ended with some random older girl doing the work for her!
After leaving Gympie i realised i was now the furthest north i have ever been (plane trips not counted). A mile stone for the kids and I! Kate has been north before.
We stopped for a “family meeting” just south of Maryborough to determine where we would stop. Hervey Bay was decided and based on proximity to the beach, the Point Vernon Big4 was chosen.
Turns out the beach is rocks and the park caters for grey nomads! Nice park with friendly owners. Kids went for a swim and play until they were frozen.
As a good provider dinner was cooked!!
The election coverage was riveting though at least the country and economy might have a fighting chance now that unions and power mad bozo’s are not in control. Pity about the football though. The boys clearly did not have the hunger.
Then imagine waking up to these trouble makers…..
